Kullu (Himachal Pradesh), Mandi (Himachal Pradesh), July 09 (ANI): A day after India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued Red Alert for Himachal Pradesh for "heavy to Very heavy with Extremely heavy rainfall (over 204.4 mm) expected on the 8th & 9th of July”, landslides were reported in Kullu district. Water level significantly increased in Beas river in Mandi. “Stay safe, be prepared for flooding and landslides," IMD warned locals and travellers. A portion of National Highway 3 was also washed away by overflowing Beas river in Kullu. With heavy rains causing rise in water levels of rivers, locals in Mandi raised concern. “Situation is bad as water level has risen in Beas. Such increase in water level was witnessed 15-20 years ago,” said a local to ANI. IMD has also warned of flash floods and avalanches in the Lahul and Spiti district of Himachal.
