Washington, DC (US), September 17 (ANI): On Congress leader and Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi's statement on the Sikh community, Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said, “I find it astounding...I have worn a turban for 62 years of my life... I think the more disturbing trend is to say that this is a statement which was made out of ignorance or it is in that genre of 'Pappu', he has no idea what he is talking about, I think that is wrong. I think there is a more systematic sinister, attempt to foment a divisive narrative to create a sense of insecurity...when there was an existential threat to the Sikhs, or if they felt so, I experienced it myself, it was during 1984...it was a one-sided pogrom against innocent people...it is a matter of great pride for me to say that the Sikhs have never had it so good, all the grievances which were there have actually been addressed by PM Modi...there seems to be a pattern in this, last year LoP (Rahul Gandhi) came here and said that Sikhs were second class citizens...he is trying to build a narrative...he is spreading lies and confusion...that Muhammad Ali Jinnah thing wherein it was that either I get what I want or I will destroy it - this is a mindset of that kind.”
