Trump picks person in charge of cryptocurrency and AI policy

New York [US], December 6: "In this important role, David will guide the Administration's policy on artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency, two areas critical to the future of American competitiveness," Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social .
"He (David Sacks) will protect free speech online and help us move away from Big Tech (leading technology companies) bias and censorship. He will build a legal framework so the cryptocurrency industry has clarity and can thrive in the United States," Mr. Trump added.
According to Axios , Mr. David Sacks is the co-founder of PayPal, a global online financial payment service. He also invested in billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX . Mr. Sacks is known for hosting the podcast "All In" and interviewed Mr. Trump in June.
Mr. Sacks's position is completely new, so it is not yet clear what specific powers and duties he will have during Mr. Trump's upcoming term. The US president-elect said Mr. Sacks will also lead the president's advisory council on science and technology .
During his campaign, Mr. Trump repeatedly praised cryptocurrencies and pledged to make the United States the "cryptocurrency capital of the world." On December 4, the price of Bitcoin hit $100,000 for the first time. The value of this currency skyrocketed when Mr. Trump won the US presidential election, especially after he announced the names that will work in the new administration, with some people having crypto-friendly policies.
Mr. Trump did not mention AI much during his election campaign. Euronews reported on December 5 that the incoming Trump administration revealed that it would support "the development of AI based on freedom of speech and human development.
